Ikuko Ogawa Exhibition: April 5 (Sat) – April 13 (Sun), 2025
Ikuko OGAWA "KIRIKO" Exhibition
Ikuko OGAWA "KIRIKO" Exhibition
These Kiriko works, featuring a balanced blend of bold, dynamic cuts and intricate, traditional patterns, offer a sense of freshness while conveying a desire to carry on inherited traditions.
Ikuko Ogawa grew up in Koto Ward, a hub for Edo Kiriko, and joined an Edo Kiriko class during her university years. After graduating, she apprenticed under a traditional craft artist, spending nine years learning and inheriting the techniques of excellent traditional craftsmanship and the aesthetics of creation.
Though she has a track record of winning multiple awards at the Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition, her calm, down-to-earth approach to her craft remains one of her most appealing qualities.
Having moved from Tokyo to Morioka last year, Ogawa’s environment has changed significantly, and we look forward to seeing the works she has created in her new home. This exhibition will feature new colors for her popular sake cups (guinomi).
Artist in gallery: April 5 (Sat), 6 (Sun), 7 (Mon), 12 (Sat), 13 (Sun)
