Shuji Okami Exhibition: Sep 27 (Sat) – Oct 5 (Sun), 2025
Shuji Okami Ceramic Exhibition
This is an exhibition featuring the work of Mr. Okami, who has his studio in Masuho Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, at an altitude of 600 meters with a view of Mount Fuji.
Fired in an anagama kiln for four days, his pieces possess a quiet serenity while showcasing the beautiful expression of natural ash glazes. They radiate a distinct presence not only in traditional Japanese spaces but also in stylish, modern Western interiors.
With a grandfather who was a joiner (sashimono-shi) specializing in transoms in Fukagawa, Mr. Okami has naturally cultivated an eye for craftsmanship since childhood.
"I love form, and form is everything. A form can never exceed the imagination, and I have continued to face the clay, always striving to do better next time," says Mr. Okami.
This exhibition features a diverse array of works, including vases, sake vessels, and pieces for everyday dining.
Mr. Okami will be present at the gallery on the weekends during the exhibition period.
