Yukie Wakabayashi Exhibition: Hand-Carved Vessels and Urushi-Painted Containers
This is a solo exhibition featuring the work of Yukie Wakabayashi, who creates vessels through the technique of hand-carving.
Created through a primitive process of carving and shaping solid blocks of hard wood like chestnut and katsura, Ms. Wakabayashi's works possess a strength that endures through time.
As they spend time alongside their owners, their character deepens little by little. While lacquerware develops a luster and grows closer to the user with frequent handling, signs of the passing years can sometimes appear as well.
At such times, a little care can help them regain their new luster, allowing them to continue to accompany the user's life again and again. We hope these vessels will stay with you for a long time, moving back and forth between the maker and the user.

In this exhibition, we invite you to view a selection centered on hand-carved vessels, as well as wheel-thrown and hand-painted lacquer containers, lidded pieces, and more.
