Jun Kawaguchi: "Iroe Kinsai Rakuen-mon Kasho no Yume Nikki" (Polychrome Paradise-Pattern Diary Vessels of the Dream of Kasho)
This is a coined term that roughly means "everyday vessels painted like a diary in contemporary colors, depicting a paradise seen in a nap." I have never actually seen paradise in a dream, however. While many things are depicted, if you can use the emotions stirred by the combination of non-representational forms and colors as a message, and let your imagination run wild, perhaps that, in itself, is a paradise of enjoyment.

Not long after I began making pottery, I was given the opportunity to exhibit my work at Savoir Vivre. Even while receiving various life advice from Mr. Ichiro Miyasaka and Ms. Kyoko Toyama, I wandered through society as if living a dissolute life. Now that both have passed away and the gallery has made a new start, it feels strange to return to the same place after 40 years.
From the perspective of my elders in life, I am still at an immature age, and it is too early to start working on pieces that seem world-weary. I would like to devote myself to creating work that expresses the feeling of just starting out, just as I did back then.
