Aki Katayama Ceramic Exhibition - Haru-shigure (Spring Shower) -

Vessels for the quiet, slow-flowing moments during spring showers

Aki Katayama

Striped patterns that emerge without being constrained by regularity

Forms that maintain a comfortable presence despite their gentle distortions

In Aki Katayama’s ceramics, a glimpse of the vast, time-worn natural world quietly breathes

"Sekiso Hokude" (layered carving technique), created by stacking and carving slabs of clay

"Shikiso" (color layers), a unique Kohiki style using layers of colored clay

The distinct expressions born from these two techniques avoid symmetry,

radiating a gentle tension unique to hand-built pottery

In this exhibition, alongside vases, sake vessels, and everyday tableware, we will also present collaborative works with Yoko Watanabe
