Chie Tanaka Exhibition: Aug 3 (Sat) – Aug 18 (Sun), 2024

Chie Tanaka Exhibition: Shokubako "Let's Row Together Beyond the Darkness"

This exhibition features the work of Chie Tanaka, an artist who creates her forms using the technique of metal hammering, patiently and persistently striking the material with wood and iron hammers.
As she hammers, the metal conveys the direction it wants to take, and she decides on the final form through this dialogue. Once they have gained their unique personalities and character, these pieces stand in place as if waiting for a chance to start moving.
Creature-like and sure to bring a smile to your face, Tanaka's works are as impressive in their naming as they are in their design. This exhibition will feature a wide array of pieces, including new candle boxes (shokubako), kettles, and containers for the kitchen.
Please enjoy the world of Chie Tanaka.
