WELLBEING TOKYO: A Feast of Vessels Connecting Time — Jingdezhen × Japan Urushi Art

WELLBEING TOKYO presents contemporary Jingdezhen vessels paired with Japanese lacquerware.

From the thousand-year-old city of ceramics, we have gathered works by internationally acclaimed ceramic artists, including pieces vibrantly colored using only mineral pigments through techniques revived from the Ming-Yongle era, and relief-carved teaware made from porcelain so thin it is translucent.

In this exhibition, we propose these beauties of modern Jingdezhen combined with Japanese lacquerware as a new form of Chinoiserie.

On the opening day, we will be offering a modest reception with Chinese tea; please feel free to stop by.
