The patterns are created by picking each stitch and inserting the weft thread by hand, a highly painstaking technique that can now only be seen in rural villages about a five-hour drive from Kolkata—a truly precious piece of handiwork.
Furthermore, pieces made with hand-spun yarn have become rare and exceptional items today.
