※ジャムダニ織はインド西ベンガル州に伝わる伝統工芸、極細のコットンやシルクから作られています。出来上がった布地はふわりと軽く、羽衣のようです。
模様部分はひと針ひと針すくって緯糸を入れて織り上げる とても根気のいる技法で、今ではコルカタから車で5時間ほどの農村部に行かないと見ることができない貴重な手仕事となりました。
さらには手紡ぎの糸を使ったものは、今ではとても珍しい逸品となっています。
